Building access roads to properties is one of the most frequently carried out projects using ROAD SYSTEM road plates. This is mainly due to the ease of assembly and disassembly of the panels and the high speed with which temporary roads are built!

Access road – an example of implementation

At least one access road to a house, recreational or construction plot, for which ROAD SYSTEM plates are used, is built practically every day. Sometimes, however, this task initially seems quite complicated. Just like in the case where an access road leading to … a wind farm was to be laid!

One of the challenges appeared at the very beginning of the investment. What should the access road be made of to safely transport windmill components? The investor was looking for a quick and practical way to harden the surface leading directly to the construction site, which was far away from the communication infrastructure.

Access road – width

The temporary access road and the storage site for the components for the construction of the wind farm were completed in a short time. Thanks to the use of road plates, made of 100% recycled material, the entire investment is doubly ecological.

The use of ROAD SYSTEM plates turned out to be an ideal solution in this situation. Compared to traditional methods of building temporary access roads, which are not only time-consuming and costly, ROAD SYSTEM plates gain the advantage that they can be used many times. Assembly and disassembly is very easy, and no special equipment is needed for transport and unloading.

How big should the access road be? The dimensions of this type of road are detailed in the law. Thanks to this, it is known what the minimum width can be: a roadway, a road intended for pedestrians and a pedestrian-vehicle traffic lane. What do the regulations mean?

What should the access road be like?

  • the width of the carriageway must not be less than 3 meters.
  • if the road is intended not only for vehicular traffic, but also for pedestrians, it cannot be narrower than 5 meters.
  • the exception is when access to buildings is used as a road. Then it can be narrower (access road to the plot – 4.5 m wide).
Access road to the propertyAccess road to the agricultural plot
What should the access road to the property be made of? As for this, the regulations do not contain clear, hard recommendations. However, it is good when the access road to the plot is resistant to weather conditions and durable. The use of ROAD SYSTEM plates guarantees that such a road will be laid! The access road to the agricultural plot should also be as durable and easy to maintain as the road to the property – especially if heavy agricultural machinery will pass through it. It is also worth using ROAD SYSTEM road plates here. Thanks to them, the access road to agricultural land will be passable even in winter or during spring thaws!

Access road – how to do?

The construction of access roads is possible with the use of various materials. In the past, openwork or full concrete slabs were most often used. However, this solution generated additional costs – laying the road (and even transporting the slabs) requires the use of specialized, heavy equipment. This problem does not exist in the case of modern plastic solutions.

Installation of ROAD SYSTEM road plates is much simpler and can be carried out even by a team of two fitters. In this case, no special preparation of the substrate is required, which further reduces costs.

How much does the access road cost?

How high is the cost of building an access road? This question cannot be answered unequivocally. It all depends on the materials used to build the road, the cost of their transport and the method of laying. Therefore, before making the final decision on choosing a specific solution, it is worth comparing how much an access road made of concrete or rubber plates costs, and how much modern plastic solutions cost.

ROAD SYSTEM road plates are an excellent way to build an access road to virtually any plot or building – it is worth choosing the right product variant. Thanks to them, the road will be built quickly, and when it is no longer needed – it will be possible to dismantle it just as quickly. All items can then be reused!
